The Shakespeare Company
On Monday afternoon, we had a very special visit from 'The Shakespeare Company'. They told us the story of 'Hamlet' in a very unique way - as they performed, explained, and even cast us parts of our own to play in order to tell the story. We all enjoyed this experience.
Road Safety Talk
On Wednesday, we had a visit from Delphine Norton who promotes road safety to schools in Lincolnshire. She talked to us about the importance of wearing a seatbelt then set us an activity to show how fragile we are. Our task was to design a car for an egg using only; 2 sheets of card, some bubble wrap, sellotape and a small piece of blu-tac in groups of 4 or 5. She then challenged the safety of the cars by putting an egg inside, then pushing them down a ramp - there was only one group's egg that survived the fall!
In numeracy this week, we have been working on translating shapes using 1, 2 and 4 quadrants. Here we are busy at work.
This week, we have been looking at both 'Roman Numerals' and 'Tessellation'.
Here we are playing an intense game of 'Roman Numeral Bingo', our bingo cards were written in roman numerals - our task was to translate them into todays numbers in order to play the game.
After finishing off our 'Macbeth' work in literarcy, we worked together as a class to make and design a book called 'Things We Can Do In A Minute'. We came up with our own ideas with partners then set to work with a stopwatch, pencils and paper.
Here, we were creating shapes out of card that could be tessellated to form a pattern. We learned that whatever we had cut off, must be stuck back on in order for the tessellations to work.
Our task this week was to analyise both Macbeth's and Lady Macbeth's characters, once we had done this, we produced a character description of one of them in either pairs or groups of three.
This week in numeracy we have been learning how to convert times from 12hr to 24hr and work out time diferences using a number line. Here, we are completing a 'timetable reading' activity on Mathletics.
This week we have been lucky enough to have a special visitor in school, she goes by the name of 'Precoius' and she is Sahil and Rahul's pet hamster. Thankyou to Mrs. Singh for bringing her in to share with the class.
Our science topic this term is 'States of Matter'. Here we are deciding whether the materials on the cards are either solids, liquids or gasses. We then explored the properties of each.
In numeracy this week, we have been looking at conversion of both imperial and metric measurements. Here we are playing a matching game that required us to match the equivalent masses together, working with kilograms and grams.
In our Literacy lessons this week, we have been studying some of Shakespeare's stories closely, anaylising the characters and exploring why they made certain decisions. After reading 'Macbeth', we had to decide reasons why Macbeth should or shouldn't kill the king, we were then put into groups to share both 'for' and 'against' points of view.
This term our topic is 'The Tudors', as part of this we have been researching William Shakespeare. With this information we have made a fact file all about his life, family, and his work.
