Red Nose Day
Thank you to everybody that donated to Comic Relief
Science week began with an interesting visit from kite expert Mr Peter West.
Later in the week we made and flew our own kites.
Elm Class spent a morning at Spalding Baptist Church learning about the Easter Story.
Design and Technology - Structures
Our next challenge was to build a bridge that was strong enough to hold toy cars and wide enough to allow two toy cars to pass side by side. Using the skills learnt from building our spaghetti towers we came up with some imaginative ideas.
Learning from our mistakes we improved our structures and were more successful.
The challenge was to build the tallest structure that would support a marshmallow using spaghetti and either string or tape. Here are some pictures of our first attempt.
Science - Dissolving Materials
We carried out an investigation to discover how different variables affected they way materials dissolved.
PGL - Activity Afternoon
On Tuesday 7th March all the year 6 pupils took part in an activity afternoon which included an assault course and giant swing. It was great fun and everybody had a fantastic time.
We have carried out an investigation to discover which material was the best thermal insulator. We did this by placing an ice cube in a beaker and wrapping the beaker in different materials. We then measured the temperature of each beaker at regular intervals to find out which remained the coolest.
In connection with our topic -Baghdad AD900- we have been looking at Early Islamic Art and repeating patterns.
